What GATCO Does
GATCO deals with the professional and technical interests of those working in the air traffic management profession – it is not a union and does not deal with employment issues such as terms and conditions.
GATCO provides policy, shaped by its membership, that helps create rules, regulations and guidelines for air traffic management. Examples of this include controller hours, Just Culture and automation. It provides comment on consultations, for example, airspace changes or ATSOCAS, as well as expertise on numerous committees such as the UK Airprox Board and the Airspace Infringement Working Group. For the individual, GATCO provides a host of benefits including legal cover for operational members and discounts on a wide variety of services and leisure activities.
GATCO is run by an Executive Board supported by other officers and a team of representatives who sit on various key aviation committees. GATCO also has regional and unit representatives throughout the country.
